Jacob Stack @ Occupy Space No.6A Rutland Street - Limerick
Occupy Space is delighted to present a solo exhibition by Limerick-based artist Jacob Stack. This exhibition is the culmination of a three week residency with Occupy Space at 6A Rutland Street. During the residency Jacob converted the temporary exhibition space into a highly productive artist’s studio taking full advantage of the space to continue his practice of drawing and making.
Jacob’s approach to art-making is something close to autobiographical, capturing the humour of day-to-day encounters and carefully constructing/ deconstructing phrases to develop unique scenes and visual puns. Delayed punch lines, non sequitirs and those unassuming recurring characters are co-conspirators in his hand drawn originals, printed editions and artist books. Jacob uses the simplest imagery to convey never-ending skylines and cityscapes in a distinctive illustrative style. He often works in series, incorporating everyday materials such as cardboard, wallpaper, reclaimed timber and recycled paper to create unique environments for his pen and ink drawings.
Jacob Stack (b.1988, Donegal) graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2012, receiving an Honours Degree in Fine Art Printmaking.
