As a part of Daghdha Mentoring Program’s 10 day festival ‘NOW’ Kaspar Aus, Emmalena Fredriksson and Maria Svensson exhibit work in Occupy Process-Space.

10th- 18th of September 2010
Daily 12.30-18.30

This work consists of 14 choreographic sketches for each of the artists in residence at Daghdha Dance Company 2009-2010. Since the beginning each individual has been developing their own path of enquiry for an entire year. The work is an approach to finding the connection between the creation and the people working around me.

Emmalena Fredriksson - 24 HOUR TISSUE

Through two 12 hour performances Emmalena explored a relationship with body and tissue, and body and time in two different spaces from midday to midnight and midnight to midday. The performances played with duration, repetition and composition of images derived from thoughts on the relationship between body, tissue and emotion, creating 24 hours of ‘tissue moments’ - images, sculptures, landscapes. 24 HOUR TISSUE is a selection of these moments represented through photographs taken during the performances by William Desheulles, Cian O´Donoghue and the audience.

Maria Svensson - DANCE OASES

“There are spaces in between, forgotten corners in town and a vastness surrounding the whole. All are valid, all are possible. Sensing the vibrations they hold, letting them initiate, Oases of Dance are born. Some might walk past them, some might stop and see, the ‘suchness’ of potentially being free”.

Dance Oases are improvisational moments created at various locations in Limerick City at different times of the day. By letting the space initiate cellist Anna Ryan and dance artist Maria Svensson finds ways to contemplate around the idea of being and creating together. The process will be documented and regularly updated by photographer William Desheulles and sound artist John Greenwood. To follow the process, please visit Occupy Space, Thomas Street.
